I am so excited about this release of wordpress. Whats new? load-time improvements, built-in Gravatar and gallery support (YES!!!), built-in plugin upgrade feature oh, yeah and the entirely new admin interface and customizable dashboard screen. What am I most excited about? Well aside from the already mentioned bitchin’ admin interface I’m really excited about the code improvements (more detailed comments and database optimizations FTW).
When can wp.com users (like yours truly) expect some 2.5 action? Within the next week or so you should see the new interface in your admin consoles.
So over the last few days I’ve been screwing around with C# extension methods in Visual C# 2008 Express and I have to say they are fast becoming my favorite addition to the .NET framework. What started me on extensions was the fact that in Perl you can do the following with string manipulation:
From Coding Horror: A really interesting article that gets into depth about why it is important for you to understand how users perceive performance in your application vs how your application actually performs. The article explains why file copying in Windows Vista seems to take longer than in Windows XP. I actuality Vista is faster (it’s file copy algorithm has been updated to make copying files a lot faster than XP but Vista introduces some features that cause users to perceive it’s performance as slower.
A really interesting read.
